Privacy Policy
The short version: we don't track you. Here's the long version.

What MeowMail is
MeowMail is a free, anonymous disposable email service. It lets you generate a temporary email address and receive emails without creating an account or providing any personal information.
Data we collect
We collect almost nothing.
- Email content: Incoming emails are stored temporarily on our servers for the duration of the inbox's TTL (time-to-live). After expiry, emails are permanently deleted.
- No personal data: We do not collect names, IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or any form of personally identifiable information.
- No accounts: There is no registration, login, or user profile system.
- localStorage: We store your last-visited inbox address and dismissed UI hints in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service. It does not track individual users, does not use cookies, and does not collect personal data. It provides aggregate page view and visitor counts only.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking service that follows you across the web.
Cookies
MeowMail does not set any cookies. None. Zero. We use browser localStorage for minimal client-side state (like remembering your last inbox), but this data is never transmitted to our servers.
Email data handling
- Incoming emails are processed by our SMTP server and stored in our database with a TTL (time-to-live).
- Expired emails are permanently deleted by an automated cleanup process.
- We do not read, analyze, or mine the content of your emails.
- We do not share email content with any third party.
- Email attachments are stored alongside the email and deleted on the same schedule.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare: DNS, CDN, and Web Analytics. Cloudflare may process traffic-level data per their own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts: We load the Syne and Azeret Mono typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may log font requests per their privacy policy.
Inbox privacy
Temporary inboxes are accessible to anyone who knows the email address. Addresses are randomly generated to reduce the chance of someone guessing yours, but you should treat your temporary inbox as public. Do not use it for sensitive or confidential communications.
Data retention
Emails are automatically deleted after the inbox TTL expires (currently 1 hour). We do not maintain backups of expired emails. Once deleted, email data cannot be recovered.
Browser extension
MeowMail is also available as a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox. This section covers how the extension handles your data.
What the extension stores on your device
- Your current temporary email address and a short history of recent addresses.
- A local copy of your inbox so the popup can load instantly.
- This data is saved in your browser's built-in extension storage and never leaves your device unless you request inbox data from our servers.
What the extension sends over the internet
- The extension only talks to meowmail.in and api.meowmail.in to fetch your inbox, load emails, and receive new email notifications in real time.
- All communication is encrypted (HTTPS and secure WebSocket).
- No data is ever sent to any other server or third party.
No analytics, no tracking
Unlike the website (which uses Cloudflare Web Analytics), the browser extension contains zero analytics or tracking of any kind. We have no way of knowing how you use the extension.
No remote code
The extension does not download or run any code from the internet. Everything it needs is included when you install it.
Permissions and why we need them
- Active tab: To find email fields on the page you're visiting so the extension can offer to fill them for you.
- Storage: To save your addresses and cached emails on your device.
- Context menu: To add a "Fill with MeowMail address" option when you right-click on an email field.
- Clipboard: To copy your temporary address when you click "Copy" or use a keyboard shortcut. The extension never reads your clipboard.
What the extension does on web pages
When you visit a page, the extension looks for email input fields and places a small cat icon next to them. Clicking that icon fills the field with your current MeowMail address. The extension does not read, record, or transmit anything else about the pages you visit.
Children's privacy
MeowMail does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since we collect no personal data from any user, there is no age-specific data to protect.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we don't collect contact information, we cannot notify you of changes directly — we recommend checking this page periodically.
